Inborn errors of immunity (IEI) can often be misdiagnosed early in life due to their heterogenous clinical presentations. Interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase 4 (IRAK-4) deficiency is one of the rare innate immunodeficiency disorders. We present the case of a patient who presented at the age of 15 days with meningitis and septic shock that responded to antibiotics. She was admitted again at the age of 45 days with pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteremia that was associated with increased inflammatory markers. Her third admission was at the age of 2.5 months due to left sided peri-orbital cellulitis that was again associated with elevated inflammatory markers. At 3.5 months, she experienced left orbital cellulitis, which was complicated by extensive sinus involvement, erosion, and abscess formation in the pterygopalatine fossa. Her condition progressed to septic shock and required multiple antibiotics and surgical interventions for drainage and control of the infection source. Both abscess and blood culture were positive for pseudomonas aeruginosa. An IEI was suspected but basic immunology testing was normal. Whole Exome Sequencing was performed and a novel mutation in IRAK4 was detected. In conclusion, we highlight the importance of raising awareness among pediatricians about the potentially lethal IEI and the need to consult specialists when these diseases are suspected. Among them is IRAK-4 deficiency which can be diagnosed by sophisticated functional assays and/or genetic testing.

AIM: To assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of Palestinian nursing students towards pressure injury prevention. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with 455 nursing students recruited from Arab American University-Palestine, employing a total population sample. Data collection forms include socio-demographic information, the Pressure Ulcer Knowledge Assessment Tool, Attitude towards Pressure Ulcer Prevention Instrument and Pressure Injury Preventive Practices scale. RESULTS: The study found that students had a mean knowledge score of 54% (14.04/26), a positive attitude score of 75.8% (39.42/52), and demonstrated a fair level of practice 75.3% (30.12/40). Significant differences were observed in the Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice total scores, linked to academic year, clinical experience, and the number of attended departments during clinical training (p < 0.001). Additionally, weak but significant positive relationships were found between practice and attitude scores (r = 0.303, p < 0.001), practice and knowledge score (r = 0.211, p < 0.001), and a moderate positive significant relationship between knowledge and attitude scores (r = 0.567, p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: The study revealed insufficient knowledge, positive attitudes, and somewhat unsafe practices among nursing students regarding pressure injury prevention. It highlights the need for specific revisions in the nursing curriculum. Improvements can be achieved through detailed coverage in classrooms and laboratories, integrating simulation methods. Additionally, ensuring that students gain adequate experiences in clinical units, with a specific emphasis on pressure injury prevention, is crucial for improving students' capability and contribute to better pressure injury management.

How to use digitalization to support the green transformation of organizations has drawn much attention based on the rapid development of digitalization. However, digital transformation (DT) may be hindered by the "IT productivity paradox." Exploring the influence of DT on green innovation, we analyze panel data encompassing A-share listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen spanning the period from 2010 to 2018. It tests the DT's non-linear impact, employing a random-forest and mediation effect models. The results reveal that (i) DT can promote green innovation; (ii) regarding heterogeneity, the promotion effect is mainly manifested in enterprises in non-state-owned and highly competitive industries; (iii) based on mechanism testing, DT relies on two routes to encourage green innovation: improving environmental information disclosure and reducing environmental uncertainty; and (iv) random-forest analysis shows that DT exhibits an inverted U-shaped non-linear effect on green innovation, including the "IT productivity paradox." This study enhances the existing discourse on DT and green innovation by furnishing empirical substantiation for the non-linear influence exerted by DT on green innovation. Furthermore, it imparts insights into the mechanisms and contextual limitations governing this association.

With the increasing popularity of photocatalytic technology and the highly growing issues of energy scarcity and environmental pollution, there is an increasing interest in extremely efficient photocatalytic systems. The widespread immense attention and applicability of Nb2O5 photocatalysts can be attributed to their multiple benefits, including strong redox potentials, non-toxicity, earth abundance, corrosion resistance, and efficient thermal and chemical stability. However, the large-scale application of Nb2O5 is currently impeded by the barriers of rapid recombination loss of photo-activated electron/hole pairs and the inadequacy of visible light absorption. To overcome these constraints, plentiful design strategies have been directed at modulating the morphology, electronic band structure, and optical properties of Nb2O5. The current review offers an extensive analysis of Nb2O5-based photocatalysts, with a particular emphasis on crystallography, synthetic methods, design strategies, and photocatalytic mechanisms. Finally, an outline of future research directions and challenges in developing Nb2O5-based materials with excellent photocatalytic performance is presented.

Artemisia nilagirica is an important medicinal plant found to exhibit several medicinal properties but the use of its leaves for combating E. coli infection has not been scientifically validated in poultry. The present study was conducted to evaluate the protective effects of methanol leaf extract of A. nilagirica (ANE) on E. coli challenged broiler chickens. Three hundred and thirty, day-old broiler chickens, were divided into 6 groups of 55 each, with group EX infected intraperitoneally (I/P) with LD50 dose of 1 × 107 cfu/ml of E. coli; group(s) EA1, EA2 and EA3 infected I/P with 1 × 107 cfu/ml of E. coli and supplemented with ANE @ 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 g/L of drinking water, respectively; group AX were only given ANE @ 2.0 g/L in the drinking water. ANE treatment was started from day 4 and was continuously given in the drinking water up to day 21. E. coli infection was given to the birds on day 7 of their age. The effect of the plant extract was evaluated on the basis of gross, microscopic and ultrastructural alterations in E. coli challenged broiler chickens. The extract of A. nilagirica was found to show antibacterial, cardioprotective and hepatoprotective properties in a dose-dependent manner on the basis of gross and microscopic examination. The methanol extract of A. nilagirica leaves revealed no toxic effect on the hepatocytes on ultrastructural evaluation. This study demonstrates the antimicrobial, hepatoprotective and cardioprotective activities of ANE in broiler chickens infected with E. coli organism.

INTRODUCTION: Cases of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) have been believed to be associated with the novel COVID-19 infection, and also with the following vaccines developed against the infection. Our work aims to investigate the incidence of GBS after COVID-19 vaccination, and describe its clinical characteristics and potential confounders. METHODS: An electronic search was conducted through four databases: PubMed, Scopus, medRxiv, and Google Scholar for all case reports and case series describing after COVID-19 vaccine administration. All published articles from inception until November 1st, 2022 were included. Differences between groups were assessed using Pearson chi-square test. Modified Erasmus GBS Outcome Score (mEGOS) for the ability to walk after GBS was calculated for all cases with sufficient clinical data, and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was performed to study the effect of vaccine type on the relationship between vaccination time and complication of GBS. RESULTS: About 103 studies describing 175 cases of GBS following COVID-19 vaccination were included. The Acute Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyradiculoneuropathy subtype was the most reported subtype with 74 cases (42.29%). The affected age group averaged around 53.59 ±18.83 years, with AMSAN occurring in a rather older group (63.88 ±20.87 years, p=0.049). The AstraZeneca vaccine was associated with AIDP (n=38, 21.71%) more than other vaccines, p=0.02. The bilateral facial palsy subtype was mostly linked to adenoviral vector vaccinations, accounting for an average of 72% of the total BFP cases. Dysesthesias was the most reported sensory complication (60%, p=0.349). Most GBS patients survived (96%, p=0.036), however, most patients had low mEGOS scores (4 ±3.57, p<0.01). On average, patients developed GBS at 13.43 ±11.45 days from vaccination (p=0.73), and survival analysis for complication of GBS into mechanical ventilation or walking impairment yielded a severely increased probability of complication after 25 days (p<0.01). Intravenous immunoglobulins (p=0.03) along with rehabilitation (p=0.19) were the most commonly used treatment. CONCLUSION: This work investigates the incidence of Guillain-Barré Syndrome after COVID-19 vaccination. Most cases occurred after receiving the AstraZeneca or Pfizer vaccines, and despite low mortality rates, ambulation was compromised in most patients. A higher risk of GBS complication is associated with an onset later than 12-13 days, particularly with Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Moderna vaccines. No specific predisposing or prognostic factor was identified, and the relation between the COVID-19 vaccines and GBS remain unclear.
